Project: Smartpixels

Smartpixels integrate machine-learning inference into the on-detector electronics, so that sensor information can be processed before readout, enabling data compression and noise rejection. In this project, I study whether boosted decision trees (BDTs) can achieve the same performance as neural networks with a smaller implementation cost.
